About IranScan
IranScan is a real-time protest and repression tracker documenting the ongoing protests in Iran that began in December 2025. Our mission is to provide accurate, verified information about incidents across the country while protecting the privacy and safety of those who submit reports.
Methodology
Our incident database is compiled from multiple sources, including:
- Direct eyewitness reports submitted through our secure tip system
- Social media posts from verified accounts
- Reports from established human rights organizations (NCRI, Hengaw, etc.)
- News coverage from international media outlets
- Research from ISW-CTP's Iran tracking project
Each incident is assigned a verification status:
- Verified: Confirmed by multiple independent sources
- Unverified: Single source report, awaiting confirmation
- Disputed: Conflicting information from sources
- Retracted: Information found to be inaccurate
We also assign confidence scores (0-100%) based on source reliability and corroboration level.
